Warming up

1. Engjoy a video: Students watch the video Alphablocks – Birthday Girl

2. Greetings: Teacher says hello to the students.

【设计意图】故事激趣,引入语音:激发学生兴趣,引入本节课的语音主题,让学生初步感知字母组合‘ir’的发音。

Step 1: Teacher’s Birthday (the sound of ‘ir’ and ‘ur’ and the revision of Unit5)

1. Make a cake: Teacher makes a cake and decorate it with the students.

a. stir: Teacher puts flour, milk, creme, eggs, sugar and some water into a bowl and then stir. Students stir for the teacher, and guess the meaning of ‘stir’.

b. squirt: Teacher decorate the cake with pastry bags. Students do the action of squeezing the pastry bags and the creme squirt. Ss guess the meaning of ‘squirt’.

2. Make a wish: Students sing a song for the teacher and the teacher makes a wish.

[Song] Happy Birthday! Happy Birthday, girl.

You can wish for anything in the world.

3. Presents Time: Teacher opens the box and get the presents, a skirt and a purse.

4. Game time: Students find the pronunciation rules of the letters ‘ir’ and ‘ur’. Review the Unit

a. Magic eyes: Ss find the the pronunciation rules of the letters ‘ir’ and ‘ur’.

T: Can you finds the rules of the words about my birthday with your magic eyes?

b. Phonics puzzle

Students read the words with the letters ‘ur’ and finish the puzzle with their pads.

T: We finish the puzzle! Actually it is a map!

【设计意图】情景引入,感悟语音:创设老师生日这一情景,设置一起做蛋糕、装饰蛋糕、许愿、拆礼物等多个环节,呈现一系列含有字母组合‘ir’和‘ur’的单词,让学生感知字母组合‘ir’和‘ur’的发音,设置游戏Magic eyes游戏让学生寻找字母组合‘ir’和‘ur’的发音规律,并通过Phonics puzzle游戏让学生操练字母‘ur’的发音,训练学生见词能读的能力。同时,通过拼图到地图的过渡,引入Step2,Unit5的复习环节。
