Pay attention to the key points of reciting;

Some useful expressions of transferring a passage about natural disaster. 技能目标 Train the reading skill of skimming;

Inhance the ability to deal with some details of reciting;

Improve the ability of organizaiton in information transferring. 情感目标 Get the students know how harmful a natural disaster will be to the human beings and awake their realizations of protecing the environment and helping each other when they are in troubles and danger. 重难点 重点:

1. To train the ability of skimming and information searching;

2. Inhance the ability to deal with some details of reciting and get it practiced in the exercise of information transferring.

难点:

1. Collect some useful expressions with a mind map and get them used in the exercise;

2. Intensify students’ atttention to the tones and tongues when doing reciting exercise. Teaching activities Steps Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Purposes Step 1: Lead in 1. Greeting and check the homework. Greeting and tell the answers to the homework. Greet and check how the homework are going on. 2. Show some pictures and ask several questions about weather and ice storm. Look at the pictures and tell some things about the weather and ice storm. Lead in the topic and get the students learn about ice storm. Step 2:

Reading and language points. 1. Ask the Ss to read the article and finish Ex. A on the textbook. Then check the answers. Read the passage and find out the answer to three questions. Then tell the answers. Get the Ss learn about the terrible ice storm in Canada in 1998 and train their skimming skills. 2. Guide the Ss to learn the language points. Then ask them to finish the ex. and check the answers. Learn the language points and finish some exercises. To teach new phrases and language points to the Ss. Step 3:

Reciting and information reporting 1. Ask the Ss to work in group to find out the details of reciting the passage. Work in groups and mark down some details of reciting the passage. Get the Ss pay more attention to the details of reciting passages. 2. Guide the Ss to finish a mind map. Finish a mind map of reporting a natural disaster. Collect some useful expressions on the topic of reporting a natural disaster. 3. Play the recording and ask the Ss to finish the ex. of reporting a storm. Listen to the recording, take notes and then report the storm. To check whether the Ss can use the collected expressions and pay more attention to the details when reporting.
