Passage:

IT ISN'T EASY BEING A PARENTS

We try to be good parents, but no matter how hard we try, our children never seem to be satisfied. They think we should be a better parents. They think we should wear more fashionable clothes, we should drive a newer car, and we should listen to more interesting music. And according to them, we should be more sympathetic when they talk about their problems, we should be friendlier when their friends come to visit, and we should be more understanding when they come home late on Saturday night.

You know ... it isn't easy being parents.

Teaching procedures:

I Warming up: Listen to a song “I want to know more about you” 2’

Teacher: Today I want to introduce a song to you. It’s a Chinese song but with an English beginning. Please listen to the English part carefully.

(After listening)

T:How is the relationship between the son and mother? ( Possible answer: Not so good)

Did the mother care about her son? ( Yes.)

Did the son understand the mother? (No.)

What do we call it when parents and children can’t understand each other? (Introduce the concept of generation gap)

II Pre-task preparations:

i Listen to the passage. 2’
