Stages Learning Activities Teaching Purposes Pre-writing Step1: Read the text and answer some questions.

To elicit the topic and know the main elements of narration: time, place, character, cause, process and effect. Step2: Read the text and talk about how Li Fang used transitional words and sensory details to describe her experience. To guide students to know how to use the time order and sensory details to describe an experience. While-writing Step3: Learn to narrate an experience and put the events in order with the given materials. To remind students of the main elements in a narration and raise their awareness of coherence. Step4: Learn to narrate an experience and gather sensory details. To improve students’ ability of narrating an experience vividly. Step5: Write an experience of learning to swim with the given materials and complete the draft. To check students’ learning effect.
