IV. Teaching procedures:

Step1 Revision

1. Show some pictures about living habits and discuss if they are healthy. If not, give their advice.

2. Lead to the new section. Ask the students what they usually have for breakfast / lunch / dinner. Get the students to work in groups and write down as many words about food as they can.

Step2 Pre-reading

1. Show the picture in 2 to the students. Learn the new words about food.

2. Group the words about food and finish the pre-reading tasks.

3. Look at the picture in 1a and predict what Jane’s mother said to her.

Step3 While-reading

1. Listen to 1a and match the sentences with the pictures in 1b.

2. Scan 1a and circle T or F. Finish 1c.

3. Read 1a again and find out the key sentences in 1a and explain them.

1) What mothers said to eat

2) Mothers always tell their children what they should eat.

3) She said it might cause illness.

4) Maria’s teeth were very weak, so her mother said that she mustn’t eat too much candy or ice cream.
