Step 1. Warming up

A. Learning aims:

1. I can understand and read the story.

2. I can try to retell the story.

3. I can use”… ago, he/she… “”Now, he/she…” to talk about the changes.

【设计理念：提出本节课的教学目标，让学生了解这节课的重点内容，对学生进行任务型教学并初步感知这些新句型。】

B. Free talk

Talk about the teacher: hobby, birthday, family, food…

【设计理念：引用老师所关联的话题，打开学生的话匣，用师生对话，把学生引入到学习英语的氛围中，提高学生的英语口语表达及语言输出能力。】

Step2. Pre-reading

T：Yes, I like taking photos. Look, these are some photos, who’s she?

【设计理念：以教师的图片引入本课story time 的内容，设计让学生猜一猜，增加了课堂的趣味性，同时吸引学生的注意力，为接下来的教学内容做好伏笔。】

2、T：This is Miss Xu, this is me, it was twenty years ago and I was short.

Guess: What could I do? What couldn’t I do?

【设计理念：以“猜一猜”的趣味形式让学生练习口述“could do/couldn’t do”，抓住本课的重点，让学生初步感知如何表达以前能或不能干的事情。教师需提醒学生情态动词后跟动词原形，逐步引导中下等学生进行表达，一步步地攻破重、难点。】

T：(Show two pictures) I could … twenty years ago, （write “then” on the blackboard; I can… now. (write “now” on the blackboard)

【设计理念：教师简单描述自己的过去与现在，让学生初步感知如何表达过去与现在能干的事情，引出课题，为下一步进入文本做好铺垫。】

3、T：I have changed a lot, our friends have changed a lot too. Who are they? Let’s watch the cartoon, and find them.

【设计理念：联系上文，一句过渡语自然引入到文本,找出story time 的主人翁，整体感知课文。】

Step3: While-reading

T：They are Mike, Mr Brown, Mrs Brown, and Grandpa. (Put the head portraits on the blackboard.)

【设计理念：文本的重要人物便是这四个人，教师拎出主要人物，为接下来围着这四个人物剖析文本做准备。】

2、T： Look at the picture, guess: Six years ago, what could Mike do? What could not Mike do?

【设计理念：通过图片，猜测六年前Mike会做什么？不会做什么？既增加了趣味性，又练习了本课重点：could/couldn’t 的使用。结合已学动词短语进行猜测，拓展学生的思维，培养学生口语表达能力，提升他们大量的语言输出量。】

T：Read first paragraph, check the answer: 6 years ago, Mike could…/ Mike couldn’t …Now, Mike can…

T: Mike can do many things, for example, he can…?

【设计理念： 通过学生的回答，整理答案，用箭头、短语的提示等把Mike过去与现在所做的事清晰呈现，让学生一目了然。在处理”He can do many things.”时让学生看图猜想Mike会做什么,给学生想象空间，结合自己的实际积极进行语言输出。】
