Step 2: pre-reading

1. T: Each religion and culture has its own ideas about how life began on earth. What do you know?

Ask some students if they know anything and then introduce to them.

In China, we all that Pangu separates the sky from the earth and Nuwa makes human beings.

In western countries, it is well known that God created the universe in 7 days.

2. Prediction and brief introduction

Look at the title and the pictures of the reading passage and predict what the reading passage will be about.

(How life began on the earth)

Show the students some pictures on the PPT about the evolution of life on the earth and give them a brief introduction.

Step 3: Reading

1. Finish Exercise2 on P27 in the textbook: put the order of development of life into a timeline according to the brief introduction and the reading passage.
