A Computer, a blackboard

Ⅵ. Teaching procedures :

StepⅠLead-in(5 minutes)

The teacher draws a map of Australia on the blackboard. Then the students will easily know what they will learn later.

Play the national song of Australia, and thus may arouse their interest and keep them in high spirits.

Encourage the students to talk about some animals in Australia. Teacher can show them some vivid pictures.

By using the map drawn on the blackboard, the teacher and encourage the students to talk about the geographic features and the location of Austraila.

Encourage the students to discuss the big cities in Australia, and ask some students to mark the cities on the map.

(Through these activities, the students may have a better understanding about the location and features of Australia, which may be very helpful for them to understand the text. )

StepⅡFast reading(5 minutes)

Students are asked to read the title and subtitles of the text and match each part with a proper description.(By doing this, the students can learn to grasp the key words and then get the main idea and the structure of the whole text.)

StepⅢ Careful reading(10 minutes)

Ask the students to read the first part carefully, noting that they should try to remember as much information as they can. Then the students have to listen to this part again and then try to finish the excises without referring to the text. (In this way , the students may be stimulated to remember as much information as they can .)

Ask only one student to read part two, and then all the students have to finish the exercise True Or False.

Listen to part three and then students are asked to discuss with each other about the two different routes mentioned in this part and what they see on the way . Then the teacher should use the map again to show them the route. Thus the students may better understand it.

Students are asked to read part five themselves and then they should answer the questions :why is the rock so amazing? Why do most people choose not to climb the rock? By answering all these questions, students can have a better understanding about Aeris Rock.

For the last part, one student is asked to read it , and then the students may listen to some of the key sentence again and then asked to repeat the sentences. In this way , we can train the students listening ability as well.

after the five parts, the teacher should summarize the whole text.
