Review Qi Baishi’s style of painting and aspects of introducing a painting

Predict the main aspects of Van Gogh the listening material may cover and the answers to exercise I (p.24) in the textbook

To elicit the topic

While-listening

Listen for the first time: check predictions and figure out what the listening material is mainly about

Listen for the second time: note down details related to Van Gogh’s life and personality, as well as his style of painting

Listen to the last paragraph again (optional) and analyze the relationship between Van Gogh’s style of painting and his personal life

To help students have a general idea of the listening material, capture the specific information and deepen understanding of the relationship between Van Gogh’s style of painting and his personal life

Post-listening

Group work: Work in groups of four. Narrate (解说) one of Van Gogh’s paintings: introduce the painting and express their understanding of the painting based on Van Gogh’s personal life.
