Teaching focus and difficulties:

To guide the students to revise their peer’s argumentative writing

Teaching Procedures:

I. Lead-in: Elicit the writing topic

*Teacher: Show a picture of an APP

*Students: Guess the function of the APP

Purpose: To arouse students’ interest and introduce today’s writing topic

II. Revision: Highlight three elements of Argumentative Writing

*Teacher: Guide students to review three elements in Argumentative Writing

*Students: Recall three elements

Purpose: To help Students get familiar with the definition and elements of argumentation and prepare them for following activities

III. Guidance on basic skills in Argumentative Writing

Skill One: State arguments clearly

*Teacher: Analyze Sample 1 about its problems regarding stating arguments clearly

*Students: Find problems in the first sample

Purpose: To help students learn to voice arguments clearly

Skill Two: Use evidence adequately

*Teacher: Get students to identify specific type of evidence in each sample

*Students: Pair work: Sample2-3

Purpose: To lead students to realize the importance of providing adequate evidence to support their arguments

Skill Three: Employ methods of demonstrating powerfully
