Students' Activities

Pre-task

Show students the word “Adjo” to arouse their curiosity. Then let students guess the meaning of it with some pictures.

While-task

Skim the passage for one minute and then try to find out the writing order and writing type of the text.Analyze how many sections the text can be divided into and what each section talks about.

Scan the text and try to arrange the sentences in the same order as they occur in the text. Turn each sentence into a simple picture and retell the plot according to these pictures.

Skim the text again and finish True or False exercises. Students are required to locate the very sentence where they find their answer.

Read the text together and answer questions shown on PPT.

Discuss about racial discrimination and let students share their ideas on it. The teacher also shares her opinion and expresses the correct attitude toward different races.

Post-task

Group activities:

Discuss the question in groups and talk about their own opinions and reasons.

“If you were in Marget’s position, what would you do?”

Assignment

1.Read the text for three times and list the new words and phrases.

2.Prepare a story between you and your friends and share it in the next class.
