To let them listen to two conversations about cultures

Teaching procedures:

Step One: Lead in

Tell the students I will go on a cultural tour and ask them if they want to go with me. If so, they will have a 4-round competition. The winners will travel with me.

(Explanation: 在本节课一开始,我用一个导游的身份介绍自己,然后告知学生我将进行一个文化之旅,并问他们是否愿意参加。然后我告诉他们要进行一个4轮的竞赛,获胜者将和我一起进行文化旅游。我用一个竞赛的形式贯穿整节课,以此来调动学生参与课堂的积极性。同时又与本节课主题相关。)

Step Two: The first round competition

Ask them to watch four pairs of students’ performance. Try to guess which country they come from.

Make them familiar with different greetings in different countries.

(Explanation: 在此环节中,我告诉学生要进行文化之旅,必须了解不同国家的问候方式。 我安排了几对学生进行表演,让其他学生猜测他们分别来自哪个国家,从而让学生熟悉不同国家的问候方式。)

Step Three: The second round competition

Ask them to read a passage about taboos. Then finish a chart.

Learn some words in the article.

(Explanation: 第三个步骤是我对教材的一个变动处理。目的是为了降低听力难度。由于进行文化之旅要了解文化禁忌,所以带着这样的目的去读文章。通过读使学生了解不同的文化禁忌。同时我对阅读做了处理,采用填表题形式,又结合了高考题型,而且还兼顾的单词的学习。)

Step Four: The third round competition

In this part, tell students they will do some listening. Before listening, show some listening strategy.

Play the recording twice. Ask them to finish five multiple choices. Check the answers.

Ask them to tell the taboos that I shouldn’t break.

Tell them I need to know more about cultural habits. Ask them to listen to Part C. Then finish the five blanks.

Ask two students to write down the answers on the Bb, then check the answers.

(Explanation: 此环节为本节课的重点环节。 在听力之前我对听力做了指导,而且我将听力部分做了处理。 听力的第一部分我改成的选择题型,而第二部分保持5个填空题型,这样与考试结合更紧密一些。在听力测试中又穿插有竞赛环节,是学生有紧张感,又有竞争意识。而且在第一段听力材料后,我还安排了一个说的环节,以此来巩固听力同时又听力活动与文化之旅的主题联系起来。)

Step Five: The fourth round competition

教材
