I’m writing to apologize to you for not being able to accompany you to the bookstore tomorrow as planned.

The reason why I will fail to go there for our appointment is that I have to attend a family get-together tomorrow when my cousin Peter will return home from Beijing. My parents just told me that we are going to welcome him and have dinner together. They kept this a secret in order to give me a surprise. Peter and I grew up together when we were kids and later he went to Beijing for high school. It is exciting for me to see him again after half a year.

I’m indeed very sorry for that and I am begging for your forgiveness. Would you mind if I suggest we go to the bookstore next weekend? Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Dear Mrs. Wilson,

I am writing to say sorry to you for my being absent from class. I think it bad manners, but I didn’t mean to do so.

This morning, I got up very early. Upon standing out in the street, I found it was covered with heavy snow. Soon I realized that it was impossible for me to take the bus or take a taxi, because there was nearly no vehicle in the street. After thinking for a while, I was determined to go to school on foot. Unfortunately, I fell down to the ground several minutes later, breaking my foot. I couldn’t move. With the help of a stranger, I was rushed to the nearest hospital. That’s why I was absent from your class.. Forgive me and I promise I will make up for my lessons and never let it happen again.
