Step1 Greetings & Lead-in

1. Greet the whole class as usual.

2. Introduce the theme--Universal Language(music)

Q:Do you like music? Do you know any famous musicians and their compositon (paraphrase:their musical works)?

Step2 Brainstorming

Introduce our class objective--Write a composer’s life story.

1.Q:What information should we mention in a person’s life story?

Possible answers:Background(where/when was he/she born)

Experiences(education/work/...)

Achievements/famous works

His/Her family/people who influenced him/her

List two examples:brief introfuction about Charles Dickens &Robert Burns

The novelist Charles Dickens was born in Portmouth, England in 1812. Oliver Twist, David Copperfield and Great Expectation was probably his best-known works...He died in 1870.

People say that Burn's fisrt love, Nelly Kirk pathick, encouraged him to write poetry 'To a Moue' and 'The Holy Fair',two of his most popular poems.

Step3 Reading

Watch a short video about Green Book.

Skimming:gap filling about main idea and structure.

Careful reading:finish a table about information of Don Shirley

Learning useful expressions: discuss with classmates and find out the expressions that can be used in writing a life story.

Reviewing: show students the phrases and sentence patterns on the screen and read it again.
