1. An idiom is a group of words or an expression whose meaning is not straightforward, because it often cannot be understood by looking at the meanings of its separate words.

1)The twins share one room, but they sleep in separate beds.

2) It is extremely hard to separate two fighting oxen.

3)They want to separate teaching from research.

2.In other words,its meaning can be very different from the apparent meanings of its components.

1) In other words, she must give up singing.

2)He became, in other words, a great hero.

3.However, many idioms have either lost their original meanings or have only a vague or loose connection with them now.

1)In Jingdezhen,even dances have a connection with porcelain.在景德镇, 连舞蹈都和瓷器有关系.
