2) The development of the story(beginning-conflict-climax-ending);

3) The attitudes and affect of the author;

1) The order of the development in this text;

2) The predicting methods used in the text;

3) The methods of predicting used in the text.

Teaching procedures:

Order Step Detail 3 Post-writing 3.1 Editing

After the Ss finish their writings, ask them to change their writings with their partners and check the clarity of the ideas or the logical development of their writings. Also, they need to check whether it is a diary or not. And make sure every student check the writings with the following questions:

Is the diary’s form correct?

Does it writing as Jame’s view?

Does it develop logically?

Are there any grammar mistakes or spelling mistakes? 3.2 Revising

Let the Ss discuss their writings with their partners. 3.3 2 Fast-reading 2.1 Skim Give the Ss 3 minutes to go through this passage with the 4th question of pre-reading1.3 and check whether their answers are right. In this part Ss need to find the general idea about Where, When, Who, and What.

Then the teacher asks Ss individually to give the answers of “4W” with the information on the PPT. 2.2 Scan Give the Ss 4 minutes and give them the clue “the direction of the muzzle” to understand the main development of this story. And ask the Ss to think about why music is powerful in this story.

And let the Ss finish the exercise Comprehending 1 on page 35 then pick a student to write down his answer on the blackboard. Finally, T and Ss correct the answer together. (Answer:4217365) 3 Detailed-reading 3.1 Careful-reading 1st Let the Ss read the whole passage, guess the meaning of “killer” and “decent”. Pick some Ss to share their answers one by one after teaching them the ways of guessing.

Way to guess the meaning of “killer”;

E.g. A driver is a person who drives a car or bus;

A worker is a person who works on a factory.

A killer is a ________________somebody else( person who kills).
