John had never been to a Chinese home before, so he didn’t know what to take. Finally, he decided to take a bottle of good champagne.
He arrived at 6:30, ten minutes after he was asked to, but he was surprised that many guests had already arrived.
Mr. Wang was still busy cooking in the kitchen, and several other guests were helping him.
John felt rather awkward, but Mr. Wang put his arm around John’s shoulder saying, “Oh, John, I’m so glad that you come.” John answered, “I don’t want to miss your party.” Then he gave Mr. Wang the champagne.
“Thank you.” Mr. Wang said happily, put it on the table, but didn’t look at it any more.
Mr. Wang was friendly, but John had a strange feeling.
After John sat down, Mr. Wang served the hot tea to him. It was delicious flower tea and John drank it all up.
His cup was filled up at once. And every time he finished it, Mr. Wang would fill it up at once.
“How many more cups should I drink?” John thought to himself. “ Oh! I’m not thirsty any more. But why does Mr. Wang keep filling up my cup. And my stomach is full of water now~~~~.
