Teaching procedures:

Step1:Lead in/Warming-up

Show two objects of good habits and bad habits

T: What’s this?

S: An apple.

T: Yes, I like eating apples, what about you?

S: I like it, too.

T: Very good. Is it a good habit or a bad habit?

S: It is a good habit.

T: How about this one? (show the chocolate)

S: It’s a bar of chocolate.

T: Good or bad?

S: Bad.

T: You did a good job. Everyone has good habits and bad habits, you should know yourself.

Purpose of my design: At first, I want to start from a topic related to our daily life. The students have a lot of things to say, it’s natural to lead into today’s topic.

Step 2: Listening (Purpose of my design: Practice the listening skill)

Listen to the tape and finish Let’s Do It 1.

Step3:Reading

Skimming

Read the passage as quickly as they can and answer the following questions.

1) What is the first step towards success?

2) What leads the way to good health and success?

Finish the task in class orally.

Scanning

Read the dialogue again and discuss the girl’s good habits and bad habits.

Purpose of my design: By fast-reading the Ss can grasp the general ideas of the passage and can find the answers to easy questions. After careful-reading, the Ss can master the details of this lesson.

Step4: Activities

Work in pairs. Do you know yourself? Talk about your habits. Make a list of your good habits and a list of your bad habits. Talk about them.

Purpose of my design: To make the Ss learn to cooperate with each other and to know how to solve some practical problems.

Step 5: Exercises (Purpose of my design: consolidate the language notes)
