Teaching Procedure

Step1 Lead-in

The teacher’s instructions :Ask some questions:Are you interested in doing experiments?

Please guess: What will happen if you put a jar upside down over a burning candle?

.Students’activities :Answer the questions and try to guess the experiment’s result or conclusion.

Step2 presentation;

1.The teacher show the experiment and the students watch carefully and observe the experimental process .

2.Ask a student to help the teacher to complete the experiment.

3. Ask ss to know abo ut the experiment and practice the skill of observing dy doing.

Step3 Discuss and learn new words

The teacher ask; what do we need in this experiment? Show new words.The students learn to read and write the new words and help each other, Let them practice the skills of writing and reading and understand the and grasp the new words.

Step 4 Reading and doinging

Ask the student to read the text and remember the experimental process.Let them try doing the experiment and try to describe it in English

Students’activities: Complete the tasks given by the teacher 1.R ead the text and fill in the blanks.2.Do the experiment 3.work in six groupsand the group leader try to describe the experiment while doing it.4.Ask the ss to explain the experimental conclusion

Step5 Language points

The teacher’s instructions :Present the important and difficult knowledge.

Students’activities 1.Watch the silde show and solve the knowledge they don’t understand.

Step 6 Practice

Do the exercises in Let’s Do It Ex.2(on page 55)and ask the ss to fnish the exercise on their books. And correct their own mistakes.

Step 6 summary

According to this lesson,Ask the students to talk about their harvest

1.time for reflection 2.Show them two tasks to complete.

Students’activities:1.Talk about the knowledge they have learned.2.Finish one of the two tasks in five minutes

Step 7 homework

1.Do the experiment after class,But don’t forget describe it in English.

2.Write a short passage with these words : First, second/then, third/besides, fourth/finally and so on.
