Teaching?procedure?

Pre-listening:step 1- warming-up

T: Class begins! Good morning boys and girls.

S: Good morning, Miss Zhang..

T: You know my name but do you know what subject do I teach?

S: English!

T: Yes, so I’m an English teacher. But today I’m going to be a doctor because you often have different healthy problems. (Show the picture). In order to become a doctor I must pass four tests. Now read the four tests together.

S:…

Pre-listening:step 2- words-presenting

T: Good job. So before becoming a doctor we should know something. What are they?

S: Healthy problems.

T: Yes. So let’s see the pictures and say the problems. What’s this?

S: It’s headache/ fever…

(Use a boy’s picture to show different problems and teach the pronunciation.)

T: Great! Now let’s play the game: act and guess. Student A turns back to act one healthy problem then student B guesses. And student B turns back to act and student C guesses. You should use “ What’s this?” “It’s..”. Then I’ll invite a line of students to present.

(Students practice for 1 minute.)

T: Great. As a doctor we should know how to ask about feelings before examining. So how do we ask?

S: What’s the matter with you./ What’s wrong with you?

T:Right. Look at the picture, “what’s the matter with you?” (Show the picture)

S:I‘m not feeling very well. I have a cough.

T: Yes. Here comes a boy. Look at the picture. What’s the matter with you?

S:I’m not feeling very well. I have a runny nose.

……

T: Wonderful. Let’s see do you know theses problems. Sunny, what’s the matter with you?

(Ask different students to answer questions to see if they have known the new words.)

Ok. Now Doctor. Zhang has several cards. Who can put these cards in right order?

S:…

T: You are right! So we add the names of the problems or body parts and “ache” after “I have”. Or we can say “I have a pain/sore in“ add body parts.

Congratulations! You pass the first test. Let’s what should a doctor say when he or she examines. When Doctor. Zhang examines I will say open your…and say “Ah”.

S: mouth!
