1 Leading-in

Introduce the task of this lesson, which is to find out who ate the cake.

Listening activities

Listen to the monologue of 3 people and take some notes to see what they were doing.

Speaking activities

Group work: after listening what Tom, Bill and Betty were doing at home, discuss who ate the cake and why you think so.

Reading activities

Ss read Anna’s thinking and choose the correct form of the verbs. After reading they have enough proof to find out who ate the cake.

Make sure Ss know what they are going to do in the lesson and lead in the grammar, past continuous.

Ss get familiar with past continuous by listening and go over the basic structure of it.

Ss can basically use past continuous in the discussion. They are able to develop their logical thinking as well.
