It’s important for students to understand the differences among three tenses and master their usages in different situations. And it might be a little difficult for them to create their own cartoons.

III. Teaching Process

Step1. Lead in

T: Hello, everyone. Nice to meet you. Today we are going to learn Module5 Cartoons Unit3 Language in use. Boys and girls, do you like cartoons? What’s your favorite cartoon? Why?

Ss: My favourite cartoon is… because it’s…

T: My favourite cartoon is Zootopia. Have you seen it? The main character in Zootopia is Judy. What do you know about her? What does she look like? What is she like? What does she do?

Ss: She is/wears… She looks…

T: Here are some prompts for you. Please introduce Judy like this.

Ss: Judy is a policewoman. She looks cool. She is brave and clever. She always fights bad people to protect the world. She wins the hearts of people. She is a real hero.

T: Does she look strong? She is not strong. Why can she become a hero? Yes, she never gives up. She always tries her best. Cartoons always teach us…

Ss: Lessons.

师生见面,询问学生最喜欢的卡通并问出原因。引出疯狂动物城Zootopia中的主角Judy。让学生各自说出对Judy的看法。引导学生可以从外表,性格,职业,能力等各方面进行表达。最后给出六个句子,每个句子中的目标单词只给了首字母,这一部分是为了复习重点的单词和句子。另外在学生完成了关于Judy的信息后,教师再问一句,She doesn’t look strong. Why can she become a hero? 引发学生思考卡通片给我们带来的启发和经验教训。Cartoons always teach us…这一部分也为了升华这一节课的内容。整节课围绕着Lessons在展开。

Step2. Pair work

T: I should never give up. This is the lesson I have learned from Zootopia. What cartoon have you seen? What is/are the main character(s) in it? What lessons have you learned from it?

Then ask Ss to do pairwork. And then have two pairs do presentation.

T: Different cartoons teach us different lessons. Some teach us to be kind. Some teach us to be helpful. Some teach us to…

Ss: Some teach us to fight bad people and protect the world./Some teach us to study hard./…

T: My friend has a different opinion. He has posted his opinion on Wechat moment. Let’s look at his moment and find out the answer.

这一部分作为第一部分的延续,进一步复习了关于卡通的各种单词和句子。另外也对下一步做了铺垫。

Step3. Practice

T: First of all, let’s fill in the blanks with correct forms of the words.

Ask Ss to check answers.

T: So what lesson has my friend learned from cartoon? Fill in the title, please.

T: Which cartoon teaches my friend to eat green vegetables?
