Students are able to use “There be” sentence patterns in writing.

Teaching Procedures:

Step1: Before-class learning.

1 Watch the short video about “There be” sentence patterns.

2 Do some exercises about the sentence patterns.

Step 2: Pre-reading.

1 Group Activity 1

Group leaders check the answers of the exercises. Get to know the difficult points of each group.

2 Group Activity 2

Each group will use their pad to choose one picture to describe.

Practice “There be” sentence patterns orally.

Invite several groups to show their descriptions.

Step 3: While-reading

1 Reading Task1: What’s in the nature park?

Ask several questions and write them down.

2 Read the passage and answer the questions.

3 Read the passage and circle things in the nature park. And then underline their positions.

4 Reading Task2: Help Robin draw a picture of the nature park.

5 Teacher will use the cell phone to take photos of students’ pictures and show them on the screen. Students will talk about the pictures.

Step 4: Post-reading

1 Group Activity 1: What’s near your house?

Students will use their pads to share their own pictures of their own neighborhoods and descriptions.

2 Invite one student to show their pictures and introduce them.

Talk about our own school.

3 Group Activity 2: Design our ideal schools and give an introduction.

4 Teacher will use the cell phone to take photos of students’ ideal schools and show them on the screen. Group members will go to the front to introduce their ideal school. The other students will give some comments.

5 To make the ideal schools come true, write a letter to our head teacher.

Step 5: Homework

Finish the letter. Then put the letter and the picture of the ideal school in an envelope. Send it to our head teacher.
