Step 2 Presentation

1. Present some new words using pictures.

2. Read aloud these new words:

weigh v. 重…；称…重 gram n. 克

grow up to be... 长成...... talk n. 讲座；演讲

noise n. 响声；噪音 brush vt. 刷；擦

fur n. (动物的）软毛，毛皮

1.Guess which pet is it according to the description?

2.Ask the Ss: Would you like to have goldfish as a pet?

How much do you know about goldfish?

Show some questions and get the Ss to have a discussion:

3) Does a goldfish weigh several kilograms?

4) Does it need clean water?

5) Can you pick it up with your hands?

6) Does it need special fish food?

7) Is it very easy to look after a goldfish?

8) Is a goldfish very expensive?

Step 4 Listening

1. Listen to a talk and help Peter judge the statements.

2. Listen to the talk again and complete A2 on Page 99.

3.Get the Ss to finish off Part 3 and then check answers.

Step 5 Speaking up

Listen and answer the following questions.

(1) How does Millie look after her dog?

(2)How does Amy look after her cat?

(3) How does Peter look after his fish?
