Teaching procedures

Step1 Presentation

1. A daily report: Ask two students to give their reports "My favourite pet"

2. Look and learn: The teacher shows some pictures to introduce her pet cat and teaches Ss to learn new words and phrases.

3 A guessing game: Who am I ?

4 Show a picture and ask : would you like to have a goldfish as your pet? How do you look after goldfish?

5 Have a discussion on looking after goldfish and show some questions.

(1) Can you put a goldfish in the sun?

(2) Is a goldfish heavy?

(3) Does a goldfish weigh several kilograms?

(4) Does it need clear water?

(5) Can you pick it up with your hands?

(6) Is it very difficult to look after a goldfish?

(7) Does it need special fish food?

(8) Is a goldfish very expensive?

Step2 Practice

1. Show a picture of a goldfish again. Say: Peter is listening to a talk on goldfish and making some notes. Listen to the talk and help him check his notes. Play the recording of PartA1 for Ss to complete the exercise. Then check answers as a class.

2.Explain PartA2 and play the tape.Guide Ss to complete the sentences.Invite eight Ss to read the eight sentences. then read together as a whole.

3.Ask Ss to complete Peter’s answers with the help of the information on page99.Ask two Ss to read the dialogue. check answers as a class. Then role-play reading in pairs.

4.Communicate with Ss and write once a day make some noise feed often on the Bb.

Step3 Presentation

1.Say: Now Daniel and his friends are talking about their pets. Listen to the tape and tell me how they look after their pet dog /cat/fish.
