1. Show a song to draw students' interest.

Tell them a song is just like a poem. They all have rhymes

2.Let students read some Chinese poems written in English. Try to guess the Chinese name of each poem.

3.Guessing game.

Guess the name of each animals according to the description.

4. Present pictures to tell students guess which pets the teacher like.

5. Show pictures of dogs and teach the new words and phrases: do wonderful tricks/hunt/hide/bark/bite//fight/till the end.

1.Tell the students:

Here’s two poems about pets. Please listen to the tape and teanswer the questions.

How many animals are there in the poem?

What are they?

My dog

1. Make the students read the poem My dog

2. Listen to the tape and help the students mark the rhymes in each sentence.

My goldfish

1. Present the pictures of goldfish and say “ I also like goldfish very much. I know a lot about them. What about you? Would you like to answer some questions about goldfish?”

2. Present some questions about goldfish and communicate with the students.

3. Teach some new words and phrases in the second poem.

Listen to the dialogue and try to find out the answer to the questions.

Find the rhymes:

1. Ask the students to read after the tape.
