2. Arouse students’ interest in learning English

教学重点

1. To know how to read the English poems.

2. To find the rhymes in each sentence.

教学难点

Help students enjoy the beauty of English poems.

学情分析：

Students have learnt something about animals before. They can use some sentences to talk about some animals and their characteristic. In this period, we will learn two poems about pets. Most students keep pets at home. The topic is easy for them to learn and understand. After learning, students will be able to write their own poems.

教学过程

Step1 Pre- reading

1. Enjoy a video and answer a question: What's the video about?

2. Have a brainstorm. Guess some names of animals according to pictures, sounds and descriptions.

3. Present pictures to tell students guess which pets the teacher like.

4. Show pictures of a mouse and teach the new words and phrases: do wonderful tricks/hunt/hide/bark/bite//fight/till the end.

Step2 While-reading

1. Tell the students: Here are two poems. Please read them quickly and answer a question: What are the poems about?

2. Read the poems carefully and choose the correct sentences for the dog and the goldfish

3. Enjoy the video of the dog and the goldfish and answer two questions: What does the poet think of the dog? What does the poet think of the goldfish?

4. Read the poem about the goldfish and fill in the blanks.

5. Read the poem about the dog and match the sentences.

6. Find the rhymes in the poems.

7. Read and enjoy the poems Ask the students to read the poems.

Step3 Post-reading

1. Enjoy a song

2. Read another poem and find out the rhymes in the poem.

3. Fill in the blanks of two poems.

4. Ask the students to write their own poems.

Step4 Summary and emotional expansion

We have learnt two poems about pets and can write your own poems. I think all of you have done a good job. But I think you can do a better job. Good, better, best! Never have it rest! Until good is better, And better, best.
