复习教师出示长颈鹿、蛇、;骆驼和蚂蚁等图片,让学生回忆本单元出现过的动物,和学生一起朗读动物的名称。

让学生说一说这些动物令人惊奇的特点:Can you tell me something amazing about these animals? 教师可以加以提示:

What do snakes do in winter?

What can camels do?

What do you know about giraffes?

Can ants smell well?

II. Presentation

呈现告诉学生:Simon collected some information about amazing things. Let’s have a look. 教师呈现三明治的图片和信息,提问学生:

Do you like eating sandwiches?

What was the man’s name? (His name was John Montagu, the Fourth Earl of Sandwich

(3) What did he love doing? (He loved playing cards.)

(4) Did he want to stop to have dinner? ( No, he didn’t.)

(5) What did he do then? ( He put meat between two pieces of bread.)

(6) Did people love sandwiches very much? ( Yes, they did.)

让学生根据信息补充完整文章。

We live in a wonderful world with a lot of amazing things.

Most people like eating sandwiches, but do you know anything about this kind of food?

Sandwich got its name from a _______called John Montagu. He loved ___________ with his friends very much. He didn’t want _________ for meals, so he put __________________ _______________________. Soon others wanted ____________________ , so they asked for a “sandwich”.

Later the food became popular all over the world. Isn’t that amazing?

教师呈现电视机的图片和信息,向学生提问:

(1)When did the first TV show in the UK? (In 1926.)

(2)How many TV sets were there in 1935?( About 2,000 TVs in use)

(3)How many TVs do most of the families have? (At least one TV)

(4)How large are TVs now? (TVs can be as large as 152 inches.)

4. 在此过程中,教师会及时呈现生词,如:sandwich, a piece of, all over the world at least, as…as, ask for ,inch等,通过创设情境,与学生真实交流和展示例句等方式,帮助学生掌握语言点的用法。
