Step 1 Lead-in

Free talk.

T: We have just come back from the Tomb -sweeping festival. Where did you go in the festival?

S: ...(students give their own answers)

T: Do you know in which direction of Jurong is … (show maps of Jurong and the towns around and help students to learn about the nouns for different directions)

设计意图:通过生活中熟悉的地点,导入方位名词的学习。

Step 2 Pre-reading

1. Road signs.

T: To enjoy our trip, we should be careful when going around. Do you know what this road signs mean? What about this one? What should you do when you see this sign? (show several road signs on the screen and ask students to tell the meaning of them and the way to describe them in English)

设计意图:在阅读课文前,了解路标的含义,为后面的教学做铺垫。

2. Animals in the zoo.

T: Is there a zoo around Jurong? What can you see in the zoo? (show the students some pictures or videos of animals.)

(1) What is the animal in the first picture?

What does the panda look like?

What do they eat?

What do they like doing after eating?

Learn the new words: panda, cute, bamboo, lie down

(2) Have a guess

It looks very strong.

It runs very fast.

It’s the king of the animal world.

What animal is it.

Remember that they are dangerous.
