Step 1 Lead-in

Lead in the topic “A trip to the zoo” by listening to a song called “Dad, where are we go?”

Step 2 Pre-reading

T: I know you’ll go on a school trip, do you like travelling? I like travelling too. I’d like to introduce my trip to the zoo like a guide. Please look at the map. (Present some new words and phrases with the help of the map.)

Now I’m in front of the gate. Go straight on, you’ll find Monkeys’ forest.Monkeys are clever and funny. They jump around and make people laugh.

Walk along the road. To the west of Monkeys’ Forest, you’ll find the giraffes. They’re quite tall.

Turn right, and North of the giraffes, there’s a bridge. Cross the bridge and turn right again, you’ll see the birds in the World of Birds.

Walk along the road and turn left, you’ll find the Panda House. Pandas are cute. They like to eat bamboo.

I’d like to go on a trip to Sunshine Zoo with a tour guide. Would you like to join us. Let’s go to Sunshine Zoo and find out how many animals are mentioned in the passage and what they are .

Go through the passage and circle the different animals mentioned in it .

2. Scanning

(1) Read the article quickly and match the animals with their correct positions.

Pandas A. To the north of the Panda House.

Lions B. To the north of the birds.

Birds C. To the east of the Monkeys.

Monkeys D. To the north of the South Gate.

Giraffes E. To the north-east of the Giraffes.

Elephants F. To the west of the lions.

(2) Complete the map of Sunshine Zoo on the exercise paper.

(3) Check the positions and then ask students to introduce the route .

3. Detailed reading
