Step1 Lead in

1. Show students a map of Sunshine Zoo

T: Boys and girls. Last week, we have learnt how to get around Sunshine Zoo. There are many places with lovely animals in the zoo. Which place do you like and why?

Ss: I like the World of Birds because birds make beautiful sounds.

Ss: I like Monkeys’ Forest because monkeys jump around and make me laugh.

T: Perfect! But do you still remember the way to so many places? Let’s have a review of Reading.

(Try to stimulate students to express the way to different places.)

2. Review Reading

(Ask students to fill in blanks of Reading.)

T: I will give you one minute to think about and please show me your answer quickly and correctly.

T: Read together. Well done. The students had a nice trip at the Sunshine Zoo .Now they are going on a treasure hunt. Here, hunt means they want to look for the treasure and they need some help on their way to treasure, are you ready to help them find it?

Ss: Yes. We are ready to help!

T: If you want to help them, please learn some new words and phrases at first.

Step 2 Pre-listening

1. Learn new words by pictures

T: Look at the picture. Some Chinese students are talking with a British student in English in a room. We call it…?

Ss: An English corner.

T: Great! Look! There are so many cars on the road. We can call them… traffic. Can you count the number of so many cars?

Ss: No.

T: So traffic is an uncountable noun. We can also say: There is much traffic on the road.

(Lead students to describe more pictures and pay attention to their usage, eg. We should put an before English corner; traffic is an uncountable noun)

Read the words and sentences together and correct their pronunciation if possible.

eg. treasure ?tre??(r)
