Step 1 Lead-in

1.Show a picture of Backkom, ask: who is he ?do you know? Backkom wants to live in LianYungang, so he must know some road signs and traffic rules. Are you ready to help him?

2.What does the sign mean? It means traffic lights.

What about this? It means it is a crossing, zebra crossing, turn left,

turn right, go straight on.

3. Learn the new words and teach Backkom.

traffic lights, crossing,zebra crossing,turn left,turn right,go straight on.

Step 2 Presentation

1.Teach Backkom some simple instructions.

Cross the road at the zebra crossing.

Cross the bridge

Walk to/towards the police station.

Walk past the police station.

Take the first turning on the left./Turn left at the first turning.

Take the second turning on the right./Turn right at the second turning

2.Backom has mastered these instuctions, how about you?

3. Show pictures on Page 49, then say:can you describe each picture?

1a: Cross the bridge and turn left. 1b: Cross the bridge and turn right.

2a: Take the first turning on the left. /Turn left at the first turning.

2b: Take the second turning on the right. /Turn right at the second turning

3a: Cross the road. 3b: Cross the road at the zebra crossing.

4a: Walk past the police station. 4b: Walk to the police station.

4.Let’s listen to the tape and tick the correct boxes.

Step 3 Practice

1. The students are going on a treasure hunt. Simon and Daniel are in the same group. They have a map. Let’s read the map on Page 50 together. What can you see in the map?

2. Let the students guess where the treasure may be, and say out the route ,record two students’ answers.

3. Let the students go thtough these sentences in A2 on p49 and make sure they can understand the meanings.

4. Listen carefully and write down the number in correct boxes.

Step 4 Practice

1. Show the picture in A3on p50 and listen to the tape again. Let the students to draw the route on the map.
