3.教学重点Important points:

At the end of the class, students should be able

1. to know some expressions of weather and seasons in English.

2.to talk about different kinds of weather and different activities in four seasons.

4.教学难点Difficult points:

At the end of the class, students should be able

to discuss and introduce their favourite seasons in Suzhou.

to improve their listening and speaking skills.

5.教学过程与说明 Teaching process and clarification

1. Comic strips

Step 1 Warming up.

Listen to Seasons Song, the song of the four seasons, to activate students’ knowledge about four seasons.Then show students the pictures of the four seasons and ask students which season it is.

Step 2 Lead-in.

Simple questions as below are asked and students can easily answer the questions with their background knowledge.

Q1: Which season are we in now?

Q2: What do we need to wear in winter to keep warm?

Q3: Does Eddie wear clothes? How will Eddie feel?

Every possible answer is welcomed here.

Step 3 Imagination. Based on the pictures and context,students work in pairs to image what will happen next between Eddie and Hobo. With imagination,they can make a short reasonable dialogue. (See Appendix 1)

Example

Dialogue 1: A: It’s too cold. Bring me my clothes,please?

B: OK. Here you are.

Dialogue 2: A: It’s too cold. Could you give me my clothes?

B: Sure.Give it to you to keep warm.

After their sharing,the dialogue on the book is presented to them. Students will be encouraged to feel the same way as Eddie and Hobo do before they read the dialogue loud with emotion.

Step 4 Creative thinking

Open questions will be asked to encourage students’ creative thinking.

T: Look, Eddie has a big smile on his face now. What will he say next? (Teacher points at the following sentence )Good! Do I look ?

S1: Do I look beautiful?
