Step 2: Warm up

Say something about your favourite season. The more, the better.

Purpose:学生畅谈自己最喜欢的季节,这是本单元的话题,学生乐说,敢说,会说;一开始把学生引进课堂,调动他们学习英语的兴趣。

Step 3: Presentation

Everyone has your own favourite season. And now it’s spring in China. Do you know what season it is in Australia? Students speak out freely. The seasons in Australia are opposite of ours.

Show students some pictures taken in Australia. While watching, pay attention to the sentences shown on the pictures.

Divide the sentences into different parts: Subject, verb, predicative and object. Ss learn about what subject, verb, predicative and object are by themselves.

Purpose: 利用澳洲照片,图文并茂地帮助学生整体认知SVP,SV,SVO三种基本的句子类型。在这过程中,学生还自学了主语、谓语和、宾语及表语,提高学生的学习兴趣和自学能力。

Step 4: close learning

Learn S+V +P: Look at two sentences----I am 14 years old. It looks great. Their structure is SVP. Because their verbs are linking verbs. Ss learn and remember all the linking verbs and read some more sentences of SVP. Then work in pairs to make a similar sentence of SVP and share their sentences with the whole class.

Purpose: 学生重点学习主系表句子结构,识记系动词并学会用系动词造一个主系表的句子,鼓励每个学生都参与,动脑造句,有困难的学生快速找同学帮忙,把不会的及时弄懂,人人会造SVP的句子,达到了操练的目的。

Learn S+V// S+V+O: Look at two sentences—She is sleeping. Farmers raise cows. Students try to find out whether the verbs are linking verbs. Of course not. “Sleep” is not a linking verb, but a intransitive verb.( 板书 vi. 不及物动词) And the sentence is S+V. It has no objects. if a verb has an object, it must be a transitive verb.(板书vt. 及物动词) Farmers raise cows. raise is a vt. cows is its object. The sentence is SVO.

Conclusion of S+V+P, S+V, S+V+O: So now, let’s see. Step1, if the verb is a linking verb, the sentence must be SVP. If not, step 2, look at its object. Without an object, SV. With an object, SVO.

Then practice: Agree or disagree Show some sentences with a structure behind. If you agree on the structure, stand up. if not, sit still.

Purpose:学生掌握好主系表句子后,认识学习了另外两种动词--及物和不及物动词的区别,本课中教者并没有一味让学生记忆哪些是及物动词,哪些是不及物动词,那只会让学生越来越糊涂,尤其是基础差的学生,而是抓住两者的的根本区别有没有宾语,帮助学生很快学会区分SV和SVO的句子结构。下面又呈现了SVP,SV,SVO三种句子类型,老师引导学生自己总结其三之间的区分规律:一看动词,连系动词,SVP;其他动词,看宾语确定SV和SVO,区别掌握之后,利用Agree 和 Disagree的活动中,检测学生的真正掌握情况。

Learn and compare S+V+IO+DO, S+V+DO+OC: First students learn about what double objects and object complement. Next compare. Students work in groups and find out what the relationship between IO and DO ,DO and OC. IO+DO sb sth, 人物双宾. DO+OC has a logical subject-predicate relation. Finally BIG EYES, show more sentences to compare.

Purpose:学生学会区分三种最基本的句子结构后,紧接着自学认识并区分双宾和宾补,经过小组讨论,他们找到了两者的区别。Big Eyes检测了学生真实理解双宾和宾补的情况。

Step 5: Work out the rules

Chant (数来宝)

句子主干,有规律;

先看谓语,来确定:

连系动词, S+V+P;

其他动词,看宾语;

人物双宾,IO+DO;

主谓宾补,DO+OC。

Then use the rules to talk with group members and choose the right sentence structures.

Purpose:利用节奏感强的chant,引导学生总结句子主干的划分规律,浅显易懂,节奏轻快,容易记忆。然后Grass skirt,学生合作分析判断句子结构,并将手中的句子粘贴到相应的结构下。

Step6: Class exercises

choose the right sentence structures for each sentence below

Oral work: Students complete the passage and point out each sentence structure. (我是一个季节。天气变暖,鸟儿飞了回来。我给你们带来好雨, 整个大地变成绿洲。孩子们放起风筝, 他们叫我 “春姑娘”。)
