Developing the students’ listening abilities in different methods is one of the most important focuses in this lesson. The students might have some difficulty in completing some of the blanks while listening. Recommending a book to others in English seems a little difficult to weaker students.

教学过程

【导入】Lead-in

Teacher talks with the students about the books they are reading.

1. What type of book do you like reading?

2. Who’s the writer of the book?

3. What do you think of the book?

(设计意图:开门见山导入话题,通过与学生交流他们最近所读的书籍,切入本课的主题。)

【讲授】Presentation

Teacher teaches some of the new words and expressions by sharing the book he’s reading these days with the students, such as: series, publishing house, sales, copy, translate, a great success.

(设计意图:在情境中教授生词,是当今英语词汇教学的趋势,一是为了使生词教学变得生动有趣,不再枯燥乏味,二是可以使教学效果更好,学生把生词记得更牢固。)

【活动】Listening to match

1. The students learn about different types of books.

2. The students listen and match each student with the type and name of the book they have read.

(设计意图:通过此活动,学生了解书籍的种类,为下面的活动做好铺垫和知识储备。)

【活动】Listening to correct

1. Teacher asks the students how much they have learnt about J. K. Rowling and the Parry Potter series.

2. The students listen to the material and correct the mistakes in the statements.

(设计意图:在听材料前,学生对所听内容进行预测,是提高听力正确率的方法之一。由于A3的内容较容易,故根据学生认知的特点,将其置于A2之前。根据教学实际,创造性地整合教学素材是本课的设计亮点之一。)

【活动】Listening to complete

1. The students listen to the material and fill in the blanks of the notes.

2. Teacher plays a video clip of J. K. Rowling’s speech at Harvard University in 2008.

3. The students talk about they have learnt from J. K. Rowling in groups.

4. Explain some difficult words and expressions: refuse to publish it, a great success, translate … into …

(设计意图:听材料填空是一种非常有效的听力训练方法。在听完两遍后,学生通过小组协作核对答案,并讨论他们从《哈利波特系列》的作者J. K.罗琳的成功学到了什么。这是本课的情感目标之一。此外,视频的截取和多媒体的使用也在本环节得到了充分的体现。)

【活动】Recommending a book

1. The students prepare for their book reports in groups.

2. Some representatives of each group present their book reports to the whole class.

(设计意图:首先,学生在小组内准备读书报告。然后,每组代表向全班推荐书籍,包括书的作者信息、出版信息、故事梗概、高潮情节和读者评论等。如果前面几个环节是语言内容的输入的话,此部分是语言内容的输出,是本课的高潮。这个环节充分锻炼了学生使用口语表达自己的能力和小组合作能力,培养了学生对英语学习的兴趣,激发了他们热爱阅读的热情。)
