【Teaching procedures】:

Step1. Warm-up

1. Revision: Complete the following sayings.

2.Watch a video and ask questions about the video.

What’s the video about? Do the two men have good table manners?

Do you make a lot of noise while eating or drinking ?

Is it good manners or bad manners?

3.Pair work: Show pictures about table manners

Work in pairs, talk about these pictures , say what we shouldn’t do and what we should do at the table.

Try to use different expressions.

Eg:

Don’t ﹨try not to make too much noise while eating.

It’s impolite ﹨not good manners to make too much noise while eating.

We shouldn’t ﹨had better not make too much noise while we are eating.

4. Read more table manners and tell if they’re good or not

设计意图:一段幽默的视频引入餐桌礼仪的话题,讨论视频内容,激发学生兴趣,吸引学生的注意力。两人合作,结合图片和学生的生活体验,讨论多种餐桌礼仪,并尝试用多种句型表达自己的想法,意在引导学生学会沟通和合作,为下文做好铺垫。

1.About the plan

The Class 1, Grade 8 students are going to give a talk on good table manners. Read their plan and answer the questions.

What’s the purpose (目的) of the talk?

Where will it take place?

How many rules for eating in their talk? Let’s read the rules together.

Why should we know these rules?

2. Teach some new words and language points at the same time

3. Group work:

Yesterday, I asked you to finish this page. Now work in groups.

First, group members read the passage together and check your answers at the same time.

Second, design 3- 5 questions according to the talk. Later, you’ll ask other groups to answer. So you should make sure you have the right answers.

4. Read the talk together.
