VIII. Teaching procedures

Step one: Lead in --- Colours and history (about mins)

Before class, students enjoyed a song called “Colours” .

Ask several questions about colours.

How many colours can you see in the video?

How do you feel after seeing the blue sky, the red cherries and the yellow sun?

Conclusion: Psychologists(心理学家) think that people’s first feeling is vision(视觉), colours has influenced vision most.

Design purpose: To arouse students’ interest and activate their desire to learn. To lead in the topic of this lesson quickly by talking with students. more important is to provide them with background knowledge about the topic.

Step two: Warm-up --- Colours and life (about mins)

Present the pictures of the school uniform and the school badge. There are six colours in them.

(white, red, yellow, blue, green and orange)

Let the students discuss in groups and say something about the six colours.

T: Every day, we wear school uniforms. Do you pay attention to the colours of your school uniform and the school badge?

I believe the designer is very good at colours and make good use of colours. It’s lucky and proud of you to wear QHKM’s school uniforms every day.

Design purpose: Through warm-up and an specific example, the teacher sets up a real language environment for students, opens up students’ mind and have a good revision about colours in the Reading part.
