Fast reading to match the pictures with the painters;

3.Group discussion to help the students exchange their ideas about the exercises.

Attitude,Value and Emotion:

1.To develop students’ interest in art by learning something about the four great artists and their paintings and appreciating some paintings from home and abroad;

2.To develop the students’ habit of analyzing and further studying the textbook by turning it into exercises connected to college entrance exam.

Focal Points:

To help the students get some information about the four great artists and their paintings;

To strengthen the students’ reading ability of skimming and scanning by doing some reading exercises;

Enable the students to express their opinions about some paintings with the help of the words and expressions learned in the passage.

Difficult points:

How to strengthen the students’ reading skills of skimming and scanning and help them express their ideas about some paintings by using the learned phrases.

Analysis of the students:

The students are from class305.Grade1 and they are from ordinary class. They are alive in class but most of them are poor at English.So before the class,the teacher should teach the new words and assign previewing homework.Luckily, the passage is not difficult at all and it is divided into 6 parts clearly.Based on the students’ level of English, the teacher should spend more time helping the students get to acquire basic language points and less time on the additional or post-reading activities, which is difficult for them. Especially in while-reading part, I design a competition to strengthen the basic language points and in post-reading part,I design a wring part to help the students apply what they’ve learned in the passage int o writing.

Analysis of the module and period:

The module 4 still talks about art and it focus on fine arts.The reading passage talks about four great artists ,their paintings and the movements they belong to. It is divided into 6 parts. According to the passage, 3 exercises are designed to help the students understand the passage better and pay attention to the language points. By doing these activities, I hope the students can be familiar with the textbook and the words and phrases.

Teaching Procedures:

Pre-reading:

Step1:Introduce the topic

T:Last module, we have learned something about music, right?

Ss:Yes.

T:This module we are going to learn another aspect of art. That is fine art. Do you the meaning of fine art?
