Film Review: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Teaching aims and demands (教学目标和要求)

1. To study some new words related to a film review.

Teaching step (教学步骤)

Step 1. Lead-in

Students read the new words in this module together; the teacher corrects students’ pronunciation.

Show some pictures to students and teach them some new words. (Including “leap, rooftop, female actress, male actor, and martial arts.)

T: “Well, speak of martial arts, I have a question for you, have you ever watched any martial arts film before?”

Ss: ...

T: “Well, some of you said yes, some said no. Have you ever watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon before? ”

Ss: ...

T: “If not, let's watch a film teaser of it together.”

(Watch a film teaser of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon together.)

T: “Do you know who the director of this film is?” Show students a picture of Ang Lee and tell them more information about this film.

Step 2. Presenting

Teacher plays the mp3 of this passage and then asks students to finish Activity 2, 3, and 4 on P53 within 10 minutes.

Check students’ answers. (Choose some students to show their answers.)
