Type of period: introduction and speaking

Teaching aims:

1.students will be able to understand some new words appearing in the text.

2.students will be able to be trained to think and know how to use these words.

3.students will be able to be aware the violence of nature and take action right now.

Teaching procedure:

Step 1 Lead-in

Introduce the topic in terms of displaying two short pieces of video. One is about gentle breeze in Spring and the other is about the Tornado and flood, After watching the strong contrast videos, the students are supposed to find out some words about a natural disaster.

Step2 Vocabulary learning

By displaying some pictures ,The students are supposed to take out a piece of paper to write down whatever they think out when they see these pictures. Then they will share their answers with their classmates.

Step 3 consolidation

The students are supposed to speak out the words or phrases appearing on the PPT

Step 4 Sentence writing

The students take out a piece of paper and write a sentence by using the words or phrases they have learned just now. Then group discuss to share their answers.

Step 5 Talk Show

Some students show their sentence to the whole class.

Step 6 Video watching relevant to the topic learned

If time permits ,The students will watch a short video about Wenchuan Earthquake which happened just around us. “What do you want to say after watching the short video?”

After watching, the students are supposed to share their feeling and opinions with everyone in the class. It is designed to enable the students to be aware the violence of nature and take action right now
