1. Let students master some words and expressions, such as:

renaissance, basically, effect, perspective, motivate, authentic, merely, outcome, blame..., etc.

Phrases: in history, for all time, on behalf of, at liberty..., etc.

Sentence patterns: It is believed to be ...,etc.

2. Let students learn to use the attributive clause and non-finite to make sentences.

3. Let students know the origin of the Renaissance and the influences during its time, especially the work of Leonardo--Mona Lisa.

ii. Ability Objectives:

1. Let students master the main idea and understand the deep meaning of the two passages; finish the relevant reading tasks by skimming and scanning.

2. Let students talk about Leonardo and its representative work--Mona Lisa, using the knowledge they have learned today; to develop the students' ability of communication and also their ability of co-operation.

iii. Emotion Objectives:

Stimulate students’ interest to know about the knowledge of the Renaissance.

iv. Strategy Objectives:

Students can master the basic reading steps and develop good

learning habits of observation and imitation.

Students can develop the ability of self-study and

cooperation by having the group discussions and peer work.

Students can develop their critical and independent

thinking by introducing the work of Mona Lisa.

v. Cultural Awareness

Students can know more about the Renaissance and the work of Mona Lisa and improve the love of our own country by comparing the two cultural movements.
