【重点、难点】重点:How to read an informal letter, analyze the structure the passage and retell the letter.
难点:Have difficulties in pronouncing those place names which they are not familiar with.
【设计理念】 因为学生具有了一定的语言基础知识，能自然地与本单元的话题相衔接。本单元内容贴近生活，学生比较容易进入角色。因而，教师在课堂中应通过视频和场景图片来促使学生积极地参与活动，在任务型教学活动中，使学生有话想说，有话可说，在完成各项任务的过程中自主学习语言，提高他们综合运用语言的能力，学会更好地与他人沟通。使各层次的学生都有所收获。
【设计思路】以图片为载体，以活动为主线，充分以学生为中心，让学生学会用英语表达和话题有关的想法，拓展学生的英语思维。让学生如何阅读非正式信件和用学生的生活或身边的人联系起来，体验语言的运用性。通过观察有价值的图片，理解文章的结构，同时辅以相应的各种活动和练习促进学生在一定语境中进行运用。

Ⅰ. Step one : Lead-in
When people talk about Africa, what will you think of ?
1. Ask students to enjoy a video about beautiful scenery, and start a talk about “traveling”. Q1: What can you see from the following the video ?
Ⅱ. Step two :Pre-reading
Q1: Do you think Africa is a land full of mysteries and attraction?
Would you like to go to Africa for a trip?
1. Assist students in answering this question, providing them with some possible answers.
2. Lead the talk to a discussion concerning Q2: If you were offered a chance to go traveling around the world, which place would you like to visit most and why is that place your favorite? (Pair work).
Ⅲ. Step three : While-reading
Task one: Skimming
Go through the passage and answer the questions below.
1. What's the letter about?
2. Who will travel to Africa?
3. How long will they stay in Africa?
Task two :Detailed-reading
Read the passage carefully and find out their destinations and main activities in each of them, then underline them on your book.
