Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in and Revision

1. Show students a swimming competition of Ning Zetao. And then talk about the sports meeting in our school last year, and ask them to fill in the blanks of reported speech accordingly.

(1) The commentator said, “Ning broke the record.”

→ The commentator said that Ning __________ the record.

(2) Wang Zhijian said, "I won the first place in shotput(铅球) at the sports meeting last year."

→ Wang Zhijian said that ___ ________ the first place in shotput at the sports meeting ______________.

2. Ask Students to review the grammar rules of how direct speech is change into reported speech they have learned before.

(changes in personal pronouns, tenses, adverbials of time and place, and so on)

Step 2 Grammar learning

1. Questions:

1) Before the sports meeting, Lei and Li talked about something about it. Ask students to watch the video and listen to what they talked about and fill in the blanks in the dialogue.
