1. When referring to possibility(表推测)

(1). The streets are all wet, so it must have rained during the night.

(4). ---I didn’t see Mary at the meeting yesterday.

---She might/may have been ill, I guess.

(5). He doesn’t look very sad. He might/may not have been told about the result.

2. When indicating regret or blame(表遗憾或责备)

(1)Mr White should/ought to have arrived at 8:30 for the meeting, but he didn’t show up.

(2)You shouldn’t/ought not to have done that to your mother, but you did.
