Step1. Lead-in
First, greet students. And then ask them a question: how do we Chinese greet when we meet each other?
Second, show students four pictures for them to describe how people greet in different countries.
Third, ask students to think why people from different countries have different ways of greeting.
Purpose: By discussion different ways of greeting, students will naturally think about the cultural difference, the topic of the reading passage.
Step2. Listening
Ask students to listen to the tape and answer three questions.
Q1: Which country is Waled from?
Q2: Where does Peter come from?
Q3: What does Ma Li think about learning about cultural differences?
Purpose: By listening, students will get the main idea of this passage.
