Teaching important and difficult points :
1. To let the students grasp the reading strategy and use the reading strategy in reading comprehension.
2. To understand the work of the UN and the work of a UN Goodwill Ambassador.
3. To develop students’ quality of helping others.
Teaching Procedure:
Step I Lead in
Show the students a short video about the terrorist attacks in Paris.
Leaders from the UN and other countries all made comments on it. Try to understand their attitudes.
(My intention for design: to get words used to express people’s attitudes. then make preparations for introducing reading strategy. )
Step II Reading
1. Reading strategy: understanding a speaker’s attitude
2. Skimming: give the students three tasks
Task 1: understand the speaker’s attitude to the work of the UN
Task 2: understand the type of the passage
Task 3: structure of the passage
3. Scanning:
