Step 2. Types of emphasis

Show the ss pairs of sentences, and guide the ss to feel the differences.(the function of emphasis)

Show different examples of emphasis, and ask the ss to conclude the different way to emphasize.

Type a. With words or phrases(so, very, just, the only, at all, on earth, in the world)

Type b. Use “do” to make emphasis. (emphasize the v.)

Type c. Use sentence pattern “It is/was… that”

Step 3 Sentence pattern “it is/was…that”

Structure

It is/was +强调部分+that(who/whom)+其他成分

Practice

They will have a meeting in the hall tomorrow.

(Ask the ss to emphasize different part of the sentence)

Return to the cartoon at the beginning of the class.

Ask the ss to use emphasis pattern to beautify the sentences.

Provide the ss more cartoon pictures to practice. Ask the ss to work in pairs. One makes sentence according to the cartoon, and the other change it into emphasis.

Step 4. Difficult & important points

强调部分从短语向句子过渡。

强调从肯定句向一般疑问和特殊疑问句过渡。

从考察单一的强调句转为考察从句中的强调句。

将强调与定从结合,增加试题的迷惑性。

干扰因素增多,增加了与其他相似句型的辨析,尤其是以it开头的句子。
