Step 1 Lead-in
Ask the students to fill in the blanks according to the given explanations.
Step 2 Fast reading
Help the students to fulfill the following tasks:
Discover: How many paragraphs are there in the passage?
Use one or two words to summarize each paragraph.
Find the writing structure of the passage.
Step 3 Careful reading
Ask the students to focus on more details and then:
1. Get to know the features of the country.
2. Have some idea of the history of Canada.
Step 4 Reading strategies
Give the students some advice on how to get some idea of a good title:
A title should represent something unique. Only in this way can the title arouse the readers’ interests and impress them deeply.
Step 5 Writing strategies
Encourage the students to summarize the passage using about 30 words.
Pay attention to the general structure of the passage:
general introduction --- treasures in Canada --- conclusion(a good place to live in)
Step 6 Homework
Read the passage until you’re familiar with it.
Finish the corresponding exercise on the reference book.
