Teaching aims:

After the reading comprehension, the students will be able to develop their reading skills;

After learning the information about Canada, the students will be able to know more about the culture, major cities, tourist attractions and other things in Canada, thus developing their interest in foreign cultures;

Step 1 Lead-in

Show the question to the students: What things can represent a country?

Then show the students some pictures representing different countries to arouse their interests in the topic.

Can you remember the information we mentioned about Canada yesterday?----------RCMP, maple trees.

Do you have something more to add?

What is the capital city of Canada? —Ottawa

What is largest city of Canada? —Toronto

What are the official languages that are used in Canada? —English and French

Can you name some famous people from Canada? — a famous crosstalk comedian and TV host Mark Rowswell ,two famous singers Celine Dion and Justin Bieber .
