1. understand the history of the Amber Room.

2. understand the text type and writing style.

3. grasp some reading skills: eg. predicting; getting the gist; identifying supporting details; understanding logical relationship, etc.

(b) Values and attitudes:

1. know more cultural relics home and abroad.

2. have a sense of responsibility to protect the cultural relics.

3. actively join in the reading activities and cooperate with their group members.

(c) Learning strategies:

1. improve their reading speed and reading efficiency.

2. imitate the writing style of the passage and write a similar passage about some cultural relic.

Get the students have a general idea about what is cultural relics, and the difference between tangible cultural relics and intangible cultural relics. (By giving students some pictures)

Ss get the knowledge of what is amber.2. Leading-in

1) Give a picture of amber room to the Ss, and introduce the learning topic of this lesson.

2) Introduce what is amber.Train the Ss’ ability of prediction before reading.3. Predicting

Ss predict what the passage is about according to the title.
